How about a sculpting section?

I know there are always new categories being suggested for the forum, but I feel sculpting really needs its own section. There is a lot of sculpting work being done by some incredibly talented people and it is a shame it often gets lost in the prop, or general modeling forum.

It is a huge part of replica props, and it would make life a lot easier for those of us wanting to learn more if it had its own section where the info could be easily accessed, and the "how too"'s could be stickied.

Cheers

That's not a bad idea, although if you see a thread that should be stuck, it might be worth archiving. PM the archive mod (yodaman) for that.

I'm not sure we have enough content for a sculpting forum, however.

I think a general tutorials/how to section has been suggested before and never happened, i think a section for a tutorials/how to section for something as specific as sculpting will suffer the same fate.

Tutorials/How To... hmm... If there is enough content and demand, I don't see why not. But then the prop and costume forums break down to show-off and research only, because what else is there to post? I'm not sure partitioning the forums in this way is conducive to prop discussion in general.

The trouble is a lot of threads start out as one thing and end up as another.
Like someone will post up some pics of a finished piece and naturally people ask questions about how they built it or what materials techniques they employed etc.
What happens then do they get moved and suddenly someone following it can't find it where it was ?
Not to mention some people can't seem to grasp specifics even when they are relatively simple to follow, there are still a lot of people can't choose the correct prefix in the JY for example.
The more subforums the more threads will have to get moved around because people post in the wrong sections.

As for stickies bad idea in my mind, there's nothing more irritating to me than having to scroll down past a dozen sticky threads to get to new posts.
