How about a "paper Prop Blog" site

I keep seeing all the "paper prop" threads getting way too huge and then restarted. many are always asking "hey, didn't someone do X or Y before?"

So, how about this? A blog site dedicated to paper props.

Any contribution will be logged as an entry, and you "tag" it. Now, anyone who needs to find a certain item just looks for the tags. :)

And here is the best part. It will be private for RPF members only so scumbag thieves cannot grab them and resell them.

I would set it up so that you must use your RPF name to sign up and then log in. Anyone who doesn't match up, I will deny.

Your thoughts?

I personally think it's a fantastic idea. :thumbsup It would be nice to have all those props organized and easy to find on a private site.

However, the question is if it would maintain a healthy level of usage in the long run. I mean, a lot of people jump on new ideas right away but once the new feeling drops off, so does the usage... and then people would be back to just posting things here or wherever.

But in any case, count me as interested. :)

I'd be cool with this, epecially if it allowed us to throw up higher resolution images.
Would we be able to post thumbnails from this into the paper prop thread here?

This way, we can keep the activity on the board, but take advantage of the imagehosting and cross-referencing on your host.

I really like the idea.

Perhaps this could be hosted on the RPF, and access could be restricted like the off topic section or junkyard, whereby you have to be registered to access and have a number of posts under your belt, like 50.
That way not every Tom, dick and harry could simply take the paper props for themselves if they are not a member here?

OK, now that there is interest, I will make it happen.

I dont think we can connect this with the RPF, but like I said, your login must match your RPF ID if you want to have access. I will also not publish that fact, so anyone coming along by chance will just be denied with an explaination that its a private, invite only , website.

And I am sure the mods can add a link to the main page though. They have already done that for my "Members Map" page.

I will get to work on this asap. Give me a few days. :)

This is a cool idea,i have 100's of paper props saved from old threads, and if they could all be kept in one place that would be cool

Hey Tony,

love the idea, but what about a separate Paper Prop forum that´s only visible for logged-in members ?

Due to recent cases of leeching paper props from the forum the staff is already discussing a solution for this.

Kudos for the dedication !!! :thumbsup

But thats not a 100% safe way to get sure, nobody sell them on ebay... Well, if I'm Mr.X in a paperprop blog and I have got 2 accounts on ebay Mr. Y and Mr. Z, its hard to sort these guys out...

Thats one point...

The next: A blog?!? I would prefer a sorted and tidy homepage with categories, etc...

Well, I suggested a blog so everyone could update with their own stuff and save me from doing it all. Plus its fast and there is a ton of free code out there to do this.

I could make a paper prop site and have it so that each person could upload their own stuff. That is just a *LOT* more work for me.

I'd be up for that. I've got a lot of stuff myself (stuff I've made myself or stuff I've grabbed from around the net, etc.)

The blog idea would be good, but I think a gallery like they have over at Prop Circle would also be good (you've got them all out on a couple of pages, and you can just look at the thumbnails.

Regardless, I'd be up for whatever happens to make it easier to find some cool paper prop graphics from the talented folks here.
