hey,Curious:
What sort of acid and for how long?
This gives it the dull look, right?
Hey guys,
almost done with the clamps!
I have done a prototype for the Electrobinoculars insert today as well, I have made a 3D model and perspective match to make my plans and I have the assembly and shape figured out, BUT, the knurling is a killer on that part and I need to figure that out to offer clean parts to you guys. I'm happy with the part in general and how it's made of two parts that slide together and held with a set screw, just like I think the original was done. But that knurling is very difficult to get clean sadly.
I'll try to do better!

by the way, here is the best ref I have showing the set screw and a black line at the base of the knurled part that, to me, proves the two part construction:

thank you guys, much appreciatedLooking great Matthieu!!! I know, that the machinist who did my inserts for the Binocs also had a hard time to get the knurling done accurately.
I have to check my reference pictures, but based on the drawing I received from lonepigeon back the days, I went with a small "nipple" in the center of the recess of the insert. Have to check my reference pics tomorrow...
here you go...sorry, that I don´t have a better pic. You can make out what lonepigeon interpreted as a small pin pretty goodthank you guys, much appreciated
I'm not happy with te knurling so far, I have done 4 more test pieces yersterday and none were good... I have ordered some new tools and I hope I can manage to fix that eventually!
I have finished the clamps in the meantime and am very happy with them. I will try to give them the surface treatment now, hopefully it works!
Markus, thank you, please don't hesitate if you have intel to share, I have done my prototype based on the references I have and am pretty confident about my model, but the photo are small, so if I'm missing details, I would be happy to know about this
cheers

It's far cleaner. There is something in the center, and it seems this is a freeze frame from video.
This must be another prop.
Hi,Eethan PLEASE let me buy that stainless clamp from you!
Also I'm in for the plug and knurled knob too.
I'm so excited for this!!!
Hello guys,
I have had a bit of a difficult week here, trouble with the machines, had to take quite a bit of time to cut and stack wood for the winter as well, so, the classic bad news is, the run is a bit delayed. sorry!
now, for the good news,
first, the Stainless steel two tube inserts are a go! those were not easy, and the price will obviously reflect that, but they are a success! super happy to be able to offer a few stainless part
now, the second, maybe even better news, I have received my new tools and, after a bit of a learning curve, I am finaly able to get a good and consistent knurling for the Electro-binoculars insert![]()
I hope you guys will be pleased with the result, I'm really glad this is finaly working!
this is obviously also good news for the Rexim Favor blaster replicas for next year, as this was one of the last difficulties to overcome, for those interested in that
alright, will keep you guys posted, as always. I hope this is all soon ready with the dome lights, quite big complicated couple of runs!
cheers
no no, this is good news because there is diamond knurling on the rexim favor, not that this particular part is used on it!Very pleased with the knurling result

Where is this part used on these blasters?
Dr. Evazan just has 2 scopes & 2 wires.
Stormtrooper has just 1 HTF scope.
