was it just me, or did it not have any of the heart of the first movie?
They should have aged Johnny throughout the film, considering 5 years passed since the start, and at least 2 probably before the last movie.
It would have added a nice dynamic to show that he'll always age faster than the rest of his family.
They also didn't have a grip on the johnny/mavis relationship this time around. mostly, because they made johnny even dumber than the first film...especially with that stupid back pack gag where he seemed to have a better relationship with it than mavis. it was also weird seeing them have a kid cause they still looked like teenagers.
Dissapointed with the limited role of mel brooks. the trailer made it seem like he was going to be a big plot point in the movie...instead, he seemed more like an after thought. he also turned far too fast, almost faster than drac, who had to wrestle with it in the whole movie. it didn't really make sense.
those minor points aside, it's still a fun movie, lots of good jokes....it just didn't have the heart of the first one. I think because gendy wasn't a part of it because he was working on popeye......
can't imagine where a third one would go, but I think skipping ahead 20 years and show everyone the same, but johnny, would add some depth to the comedy. maybe making johnny think about becoming a real vampire so he can age with the rest of his family...
