Horizon Original's Vinyl TERMINATOR figure

Mutant-Enemy

Hey guy's,
I've had this thing since it first came out and over the years have cut away all the vinyl pistons and replaced them with brass tubing.
I got as far as the hands (which were quickly ruined) and put the whole kit back on the shelf.
Now I'm wondering if anyone has made after market hands for it and where I might get them?
Planning to have the whole thing vacu-metalized in chrome when it's done.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

As far as I'm aware, no one has made anything available to mod this piece, but there's been some insane custom jobs done over the years - this one was sold on eBay some years ago, iirc:

Elfin - a recast company - made a static metal cast hands conversion for their kit... but I've never seen how it looked up close.

Interesting!
Yeah, the one thing you can say about this figure: it definitely needs to have it's pose modified to make it less stiff looking.
I know it's a cyborg and all but the pose is so straight up and down rigid and boring...
One of the first things I did to mine was separate the spine segments and reposition them so the figure will be turning around slightly.
I'll check out Elfin if I can find them. Don't know what the scale is on this kit or if theirs will work but I'll see what I can find out. Thanks!

Wow...I realized after posting how bad that last part sounded!
NO, I won't be purchasing from a recaster!
It appears that this "Elfin" has been shut down which is a good thing.

The Elfin is a Horizon recast.

One thing I planned on fixing on mine was the knees and kneecaps, but I sold it along with my other horizon kits long ago.

From my recollection, the spine doesn't really move on the originals. At least, I never noticed they did, though, they were made as separate pieces, so maybe I've just not paid enough attention. But it's rigid on the ArgoNauts kit and the Hot Toys figure, which are the highest end pieces you can get outside the finished Sideshow and CinemaCast statues.

No, the spine on the model does not move but think about how a human body works...if the spine isn't flexible then all you are able to do is stand at attention.
I want to pose my Terminator in a more interesting way than simply standing there stiff as a post which is why I cut the spine into it's sections and repositioned it.

Looks like I'm going to have to break down and build the new hands from scratch. I'm just not finding anything in the 1/5th scale that would work.

Yeah. Before the Hot Toys... only fourth scale did accurate hands. I reckon because of the complexity and the small scale. I'm still perplexed by how Hot Toys did it... and made them movable... and strong enough for handling. Amazing.

Shame the Horizon is such an odd scale, otherwise you could have tried acquiring a broken Hot Toys to mod it with.

If you need good reference, you could always check out http://www.endobuildersclub.com/ in case you haven't already.

Good luck.

Thanks man!
That is an interesting sight with good reference pics.
Yeah, I wish I could make the hands possable but I have a pretty clear idea of what I want them to be holding so I guess it's really not necessary.
Time to try out my new Lathe!
