Home Depot Lightsaber

I was playing around with a removable wooden blade idea for a bit. I don't like ordering from online stores if I can help it.

I switched out the gray washers for black today, better?

Also, I put a LED harbor freight flashlight in it to see what it would look like. Also added a piece from a hard drive for an emitter.

Looks good! Better than my first Home Depot by far.

It starts at Home Depot, and ends with you scouring flea markets and pretending you're really into military antiques (which you will be, but not for the reasons your telling the sellers)

welcome!

This! ^. "I didn't know GRAFLEX were used as lightsabers! I'm just really into vintage photography..."

Decided to make a few changes, I order some faucet knobs and a new threaded faucet plug ... I also had recently received a red cree flashlight.

I had to shorten the threaded rod on the cover to make it fit under the knob. I was able to put the faucet cover on backwards and secure it with the slip nut and then put the knob on and tighten it down .. now all I need to do is paint it. The flashlight fit fine after removing the belt clip ... all I need to do is break it down later and move the activation button to the outside of the saber.

I see you've gone over to the dark side with that red faux crystal ... need to build another to bring balance to the Force, you will :wacko

I really like the form of this and how simple it looks to finish. so I've gone to home depot a couple of times now trying to figure out how all of this would connect together. All the extension pipes are only thread at one end so i'm stuck.

could you give a step-by-step on how you built this?

thanks

Hi everyone!

This is my second post, I decided I wanted to make something as a first project. I grew up with Star Wars so I decided on a lightsaber from the plumbing isle!

Used your typical part: Sink drain, extension pipe, slip joints, washers, electrical tape and a red wire nut.

I'd like to go back and redo the handle and add a real button and maybe eventually an led. I'm very happy for now though with my one day (30 minute) build ..... I welcome any suggestions for a follow up build that I can accomplish fairly quickly .. getting a few under my belt to build up my confidence!

Thanks!

I did this a few years back while following a tutorial from instructables.com. Shortly after completing my "Light-Side" chrome saber handle, I found a black sink drain and began working on my "Dark-Side" style saber of the same design, much like the Anakin/Darth Vader sabers.

I used DVD and HDD drive hubs as the emitters, however mine do not light up or make sound.

Here's a few pics of them, plus a size comparison shot next to the ForceFX saber I have.
