The house made famous by Home Alone is on the market in suburban Chicago for $2.4 million.
The 4,250-square-foot Georgian, located in Winnetka, has 14 rooms, 3.2 baths, a screened-in porch and that famous staircase Macaulay Culkin slid down in the movie, the Chicago Tribune reports. It sits on a half-acre of land.
The $2.4 million isnt just because of its cinematic history, says listing agent Marissa Hopkins of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. It really is a residential masterpiece.
Emptynesters John and Cynthia Abendshien, who bought the home in 1988 for $875,000 admit now might not be the best time to sell given the housing market. But "we just decided we wouldnt wait any longer, Cynthia tells the Tribune.
To prevent gawkers and fans of John Hughes 1990 film, there will be no open houses and all buyers will be pre-screened.

"It would be a zoo, Hopkins says. There are a lot of people who would like to see the Home Alone house if they were given the opportunity. PHOTOS: The next big stars
In related news, Chicago-area home featured in Ferris Bueller's Day Off has been taken off the market. The Highland Park house was originally listed at $2.3 million, but had most recently been offered for $1.65 million, says Coldwell Banker agent Meladee Hughes.

Ive always loved the look of that house, now only if I had the money.....and it wasn't in Chicago......

I was just wondering about this house like last week! Wow i wonder if little nero's is still in business lol

I agree don't waste my time just because my house was in a movie. I would do the same as them

same here......but if i needed the money, then i would consider doing tours of the house for a small price

my life's dream is to own the ennis brown house.....i wouldnt charge anything for tours, but i would except donations for repairs and maintenance...

This is very cool. Hope they replaced that furnace!

Lana Lang's house from Superman III is up for rent..there were pics posted locally. I contacted the renter so see about a quick 10 minute tour as I'm a movie/Superman buff, but they didn't respond. I guess I should have just lied about my intentions and posed as a renter. :phttp://www.therpf.com/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=1667726

That's exactly what I was thinking. Even if they did tours for a year or so, they'd definitely be able to make some cash until they can actually sell it
