Hogan's Heros radio/coffee pot

I used a white speaker wire that seemed to fit with the look and use of the object. (Probably not canon but works for my replica.)

How / where did you attach the zip cord speaker wire inside the pot and on bottom of the percolator filter element mount tube base? In the series the wire looks like it goes into the hole in bottom of the tube under the filter basket, but I don't understand how it would fit back into the percolator onto the heat element without pinching the wire?

In the series the wire looks like it goes into the hole in bottom of the tube under the filter basket, but I don't understand how it would fit back into the percolator onto the heat element without pinching the wire?

I attached the wire through the hole in the base as well, it does pinch the wire a little but not enough to stop the filter element from sitting correctly.
