And now for something different. On the David Dortort western 'The High Chaparral, one of the main protagonists wore a signature item, a long vest.

My question is, does anyone have any idea if this is based off any item of clothing, and if so what. I am guessing that it may be a custom job as I have never seen anything like it.
I always like Buck's outfit and would be happy to replicate it.
