Hessen boots modification - slimming down

Hello All,

I'm deciding right now which size German police boots from Hessen Antiques to keep
(ordered 10 and 11, sending one back), but either way they are a bit wide for my calves.

There are cobblers with videos on YouTube showing how to measure & send in:

But neither are in the States.

Has anyone had success getting the shaft taken in at a shop nearby
..and would those cobblers accept work shipped to them?
