Heroes: ... is anyone even watching?

I think part of the issue is that they're delving too much into these primary characters...
I'd like to see a show about a people group that I haven't already learned everything I care to know about them in the first season.

They should start calling it, not Heroes, but... "the same heroes from last time again".
Part of the magic of the first season was you were still being introduced to characters, and their powers were still being developed... season two was still pretty strong because the heroes learned how to 'bend' their powers and the plot had depth and gravity. But at this point it's just beating a dead horse.

I'm ready for new heroes... I'm ready for old ones to die, I'm ready for Sylar to JUST BE DEAD and get a new villain.
And what's with all the eclipses that change the course of reality? Let's just focus on new heroes, situations, and stories.

I actually got to spend some time with the series creator Tim Kring last Summer and we discussed, quite frankly, the shows deterioration. He blamed- not suprisingly- Network interference and diminished budgets/time for the writers. Networks do know how to screw up a good thing don't they? Especially NBC.

The Carnival and Samuel(Magneto) are a good idea. It's time to start seeing power corrupt some of these people more than what it has. I would spin Samuel and his crew off on an escalating strike. Start with taking over a city, move on to a state before the "Heroes" actually get their crap together and try to take him down. God, there is a lot of untapped potential in this show.

God, there is a lot of untapped potential in this show.

Yeah but unfortunately we'll never wind up with a no-holds-barred action episode due to budget constraints which is exactly why I was so incredibly disappointed with the season 1 finale.

After all the buildup to it, the strong chick whacked Sylar with a parking meter and Nathan Petrelli flew Peter up into the atmosphere so his nuclear explosion wouldn't hurt anybody (including Nathan who became an alcoholic and Peter who got amnesia... WTH was all that about?)

Here in germany, Heroes is near the end of season 3, starting season 4. Well, the problem I see, was the writer's strike, because season 2 was an overlong story about Hiro and Andy Monroe. Season 3 was superior over 2, comparing to season 1, I would say, it's a par, but maybe you're all right, that it'S time to change the heroes and introduce new ones.

Pauleysolo: Can you talk to Tim again to radically abandone the known characters? I mean, I like them, but the more I think about them, their evolution has come to an end. Maybe leaving Mohinder as the remain anchor for heroes and the regulars coming as a cameo. Oh, and Hiro should get more serious and not being the clichee dork of an asian Trek-fan.

i'm watching... i'm not in love with this season, but it's not terrible either. there's not a lot on that i like enough to spend DVR space on. heroes *just* makes the cut, but i'm usually 3-4 episodes behind.

i caught up mostly last night. i'm 1 back from current now.

Mid season finale? How long was this season, ten episodes? What gives?

I'm constantly annoyed by this show. I do find that I enjoy it more when I can watch more than one episode at a time. I just find one episode of the show at a time rather annoying because by the time the show has started to capture my attention, it is over... The pacing and the predictability are both to blame for that.

My DVR has failed to record the show three weeks in a row, though I still watch it at a friends house when that happens.

The finale' is the 18th episode of the season. Can't believe the reason such a good show originally has gone so far downhill is because NBC won't give them decent budgets. That's just pathetic. It's not like the spend much on their other shows...they've got what? Leno, chuck, and 13 hours of reality crap? Seems like it at least.

I thought this year was going to get strong again, but after 3ish weeks, right back down into nothing special and all over the place. I guess their saving grave to get to season 5 is that NBC will need an extra 6-7 hours of programming since Leno will be back to late night. That's about the only way I can see that returning. Maybe they'll get lucky and another network with actual budgets will pick them up. Hell, CBS scooped up medium, so anything's possible i guess.

They lost me. I liked it when the idea was Humans were evolving and this Indian scientist was studying the evolution of man (never liked the boring voice-over commentary though.)

Then it turned into a conspiracy and a group of parents changing their children, dumping off the ones they didn't like, whatever.
Then, everyone was flipping sides every few minutes and you could get or remove powers with a shot and it got really boring.
I left it mid-season three and started again this season, but I canceled the season pass a few weeks ago.

I think it had tremendous potential, but they missed it by a mile.

I just found that I didn't care about the existing heroes or the new ones and the writing was extremely predictable.

Oh well.

When they remake the idea as a film or a new series in 10 years, I'll be there to try again!

I watched absolutely religiously until the hiatus they took over this most recent Christmas season, then I forget when the show was supposed to start again, so I missed the coming-back again episode... and I realized that I just didn't care anymore.

As far as I'm concerned, they all joined the carnival and went on with their lives. The End.

IMO they ruined Peter.
The whole one power at a time thing sucks.
However, he really was getting ALL TOO Powerful, but that was the fun of it.
Hell, i even liked it when he DIDNT have powers. He acted like he had a brain then.
I remember the ep when he got the shot, and DID get his powers back, i think i jumped outta my seat!

since then its been lackluster.

the best ep this season was when peter first discovered Emma and their "connection" over seeing the music. i thought that was a very touching scene.

I still watch it but Hero's and LOST are in the same boat now.

I only watch now because I have so much invested in watching all of
the previous seasons that I just want to see where they going with it all
at this point.

If they kill off a character, keep them dead. I for one am tired of seeing
this Tracy chick keep coming back. One of those useless characters
that is just there for eye candy.
