I did the best I could fixing the front side, but it's tough sanding around the ribs like I said.

B&W fins cut out with my Dremel.

I taped the shells together, and placed them on a board to keep them even. I used a file to finish out the fin cutout. I cut a short piece off the file to make it easier, this really helps to get at tough spots.

Small files finished it up.

Absolutely stunning work! That is the best looking pistol body I've seen before. Just like the phaser I, THAT is THE phaser, no doubt! Just incredible! I can't wait to see the two put together.

I've started on the build. I have a P1 release made by Junkman on the TPZ.

The safety pin is meant to be re-bent to form a spring, but I have no idea what to do with it.

The GJ hero has a spring which runs to the rear, but Junkman's latch design requires a forward pull to engage the P1. I had to attach a rear facing spring in a way that would pull forward. I drilled a small hole in the latch.

I then attached a piece of wire trough the hole, ran it down the front side of the latch, then under and out the back side.

Then I attached a spring to the wire.

By pulling back on the spring, the latch is pulled forward.

Pushing the release button forces the latch back.

I've also got most of the P1 parts made, including the thumb wheel and sight hood.

I looked close at screen caps, and the GJ pics, to try to get the sight hood shaped right. This also looks close to how Matt Jefferies originally drew it.

I think Rob's day job is building new thrusters & orbital stbilizing equipment for NASA.

I started making the P2 cut outs.

A few edge chips to fill.

I also had to grind the inside a bit.

Grinding out the P1 to mount the sight.

The cut out for the rear fins are walled in with brass sheet.

I also anchored in a brad to attach the release spring too.
