I found this tutorial on Tk-8034's website :
http://sci-fire.com/how_to_wood_grain.htm
The problem i'm having is that I cant find "mohawk" stuff anywhere. The online link there requires that you order a minum of $85 worth of spray. Does anyone know of another vendor or possibility an alternative to this spray?

Thanks.

Here is a wood grain pattern I painted on Ferengi rule books..

ok, so i have a couple of good coats of minwax. I'm going to let it dry for a couple of days, then i need to put on a clear coat. Should I use just a sprayable matte finish or a coat or two of Future floor polish, then the matte finish?

Go to Home Depot or Lowes. They sell a kit that allows you to make REALy GOOD simulated wood grtain. It should be inthe paint department with the rest of the Mnwax stains. Its a funky looking handle, that you use with a really strnage looking patern on the pad. You pull it towrds you through the stain and you get a nice even woodgrain pattern. Its a cheap kit too, shoul d be under $20.

Well, unfortunately, that's an inherent problem with wood stain. It isn't really designed to sit on top and dry like paint, but to be absorbed by the wood. Paint has an added kicker to make it cure. Wood stain doesn't have that ingredient. All you can do is spray it on in light coats and allow each coat to dry.
