Hello! Awhile back I purchased a rather pricey latex mask, which of course, unlike silicone, deteriorates over time. Is there any way I can protect this?
i know to keep it out of sunlight, wipe it down, keep it upright, etc. But is there any way, any type of spray-on preservative or coating, that can keep it from deteriorating?

Thanks so much!

I have some very old latex masks that are still going strong and they haven't been looked after that well either. I usually talc the inside and keep it packed with paper to hold the shape. I don't personally know of any spray that can help prevent, or slow down latex perishing.

The best thing you can do for mask latex is to keep it well supported (either by having it professionally foam filled or by stuffing it gently with poly bags). It will dry over time and lose flexibility, but keeping it on a stable form will help keep gravity at bay as it does.

Give it a little talc from time to time, and avoid UV light (including indirect) from sunlight or fluorescent lighting of any kind.

Lastly, try not to handle it too often, as the oils from your skin can also affect the latex.

These are just the basics, but like a lot of folks, I collect old masks and these tips have kept many of them around for years in great shape :)

Hope that's some help!

Tom
