Help with Chest Strap/buckles?

I know they vary from Pred to Pred, but let's take the P1 as an example. What am I seeing for the chest strap? Does it circle both arms like a backpack with the horizontal straps across the chest AND back? How is the armor attached? Those three way buckles that attach the horizontal piece...are they a found item?

Thanks for any ideas...I have trouble interpreting what I'm looking at sometimes!

I think it is permanently connected at the buckle but then attaches under the armor... you could connect it with Velcro...
