HELP!!! Walt Disney World Reception Machine - Figments Journey into the Imagination!

Hi. So at a recent trip to Walt Disney World I noticed a vintage prop which I immediately took pictures of.

I immediately recognized the top part. I work in TV broadcast / A/V and recognized it as an old Sony DXF40BCE setup. Being in the field I can get those pretty cheap. I was wondering if anyone knew what the lower part is though. I plan to wire it through so when it rings.... (AKA when someone presses one of the call buttons) the tally light goes off and some stuff pops up on the screen about connecting call, etc., That will basically be a small video loop run off a very tiny computer. I think it would be a very cool retro project and something rather unique. Does anyone have any ideas on the lower part? Thanks in advance!

It looks like the bottom part was cobbled together from different components. The aluminum end pieces look hand worked, not like they came from a manufacturer like that.

Interesting. I can do the aluminum pretty easy and polish it up to that lustre. My big question is what is the box. I am guessing its a intercom or phone switch of some kind. Looks to be 60s or 70s. Its entirely connected because it does light up and stuff goes on the little screen. I would love to have one where when you pressed the buttons things happened.
