Help us find this prop / costume item - Predators - $100 Reward offered.

I will get in touch with both and see what I can find. To me, the overall build of this Blackhawk piece is STRIKINGLY similar... Trying to determine if there is some way it could be folded or modded to work.

I think you might be on to something there... I think if you folded over the purple tab first then the two red then the blue...it would give you the knife sheathe you would be looking for...only problem I forsee is having to sew a trim piece around the edges but even that would not be too bad....

P.S

Here is hoping one of those contacts works out and they can tell you exactly what was used :)

Its easier to make them from scratch than modify something off the shelf. My theory is those parts were added as a visual rather than any practical application. It is after all a movie. They sure look custom made.

Ive dealt a lot with tactical gear as of late. Condor is pretty much Blackhawk patterns with a lower grade of material and stitching. Ive seen tons of the stuff from all makes from fall apart in your hands to the real deal and have yet to see those shell holders much less one that doubles as a sheath that holds a knife that large. Id assume to say that knife is at least a foot tall based on the SOG knives I have. Not the easiest item to find an off the shelf sheath to fit.

By the premise that "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar".......
.....and a total shot in the dark (pun intended...)
Maybe they just took a knife sheath and sewed on a row of shell holders from a bandolier or sling??

Based off measurements from the vest, I am roughly estimating the pieces to be 9.25" tall by 3.25" wide with a piping of about .36"

Were you able to contact the efx companies at all? Was hoping they could at least tell you if there were found or custom...

I would look into whoever supplied the knife/knives. The sheath/shot-shell carriers appear to be higher quality than the condor vest or BHI holster. What gets me is almost *every* shot-shell carrier I have encountered uses 1.5-1.75" wide elastic. The ones used in the movie use 1". Also if you look at the top of the sheath, you will notice that the stitching on the trim-tape is two different colors. It appears that the factory stitching appears to be straight and darker color. While just above that there is a row of lighter, somewhat irregular stitching. Making me think these were a modified found item.

If you end up having to custom make them, let me know as I can put you in touch with a couple people that do this type of work.

Alrighty, so does anyone know anyone who can do this kind of work and source this kind of material and edging?

I can't imagine it would be too difficult...I have a few skills with a sewing machine. I can try whipping up a prototype to see if it is what you are looking for...just give me the total dimensions and everything you are looking for and I'll see what I can do. :)

That would be great! I want to pick up one of the TOPS 107C knives first to make sure everything fits as it should, but I have tenative measurements all but finished.

I looked and I have most of the materials for a mock up...had to buy elastic which unfortunately they didn't have any OD green so I had to dye it...if you want to pm me the dimensions I'll see how close I can get...I was thinking about it and I have a roll up cutting board that I am thinking of lining the sheathe with so the knife doesn't cut the fabric...would also help stiffen the piece a bit.

I think if it's a found item, it's most likely part of a padded strap that's been slightly modified to hold the knife. I have one from MaxOps on a shotgun case which looks identical, except it only holds 6 shells. It could easily hold a knife in the opening that the strap slides through, you would only need to sew the other end closed.

Art...well, I think I may have found it. If this isn't it, it's certainly as close as there is (unless it was, in fact, custom).

Good luck! Let me know what you think. I think they're pretty cool-ish and am getting a couple myself. I'm actually going to put it horizontally across the top of my MOLLE vest for my pump 12ga.

It comes in Black, Khaki, Coyote Tan and Coyote Brown. $25 each.

Predators Shotgun Shell Panel

Stubob,

Mark at 3gungear made these replicas (not originals for the movie) of the shotshell panels as well as the AA-12 drum pouch after seeing our work here on the RPF. You can see more about Mark's work on our Royce Costume thread.

Gotta love the RPF for the power of getting information together. Can hardly remember when there wasnt such a system of people anymore.
