Help/Tips for painting a Bobamaker Helmet?

I just got my helmet in today. It's beautiful and I can't wait to get to finishing it and the rest of my costume. I have the design an colors I want in mind but, I've never attempted anything like this before. Any tips on type of paint, technique, etc. would be appreciated. I have 3 months to finish before the SW Celebration V! Thnks!

Best option is to head over to the Dented Helmet forum. It's 'the' place for anything Fett related, and plenty of detailed paint ups of lids there too.
