I am looking to finish my Galactica generic communications unit and I am in need of locating a like/similar hand crank as seen in the photo below:

Does it look completely hand made? Maybe...

If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Sean

Hmm. In any event looks like it could be easily made with a thick Popsicle stick (or tongue depressor) and a fat wooden dowel.

it reminds me of a small window crank like you might see in a motorhome or travel trailer. The hex screw on top looks out of place to me- if it's a found crank, I doubt that was stock.

Similar, but not a match.

Honestly, I'd just scratch build it. Wood would work as galling said, I'd proly do aluminum for the arm and pieces of acrylic rod for the knob and axle.

Tried looking for window crank handles, only place I can think of that you can get different looking ones and metal ones?

maybe search for hand cranks from old army phones? seem to recall they use cranks on the one's in ww2 movies and vietnam.

I like that pencil shapener thought - I'll look into that.

For now, I went with the simple popcicle stick and dowel.

Thanks all for your help.

Looks good to me! May want to add a little silver to the dowel if you are looking to replicate the 1st pic you posted.
