HELP Mandolorian helmet

I'm currently working on a custom mandolorian helmet, my first one ever, and could really use some advice.
The two sides of my helmet aren't level IMG_20170728_165702969.jpg
Side 1 is just a bit higher than side 2. I dont know whether i should sand down side 1 and risk sanding too far and making a hole, or to build up side 2 with more bondo and risk ruining the central ridge and the overall curvature of that side.

Also I need to replace the bottom rim of it since its gotten a little wobbly and broke in some parts.
Would cutting off the bad parts and glue in a new rim made out of fiber glass work?

Im hoping on molding and casting it if that matters.
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
