Help! Making a molded visor.

Hi there. I'm not sure this post belongs in this area (if it doesn't, mods feel free to move it), but im kinda new to the whole thermo plastics game. I'm hoping to purchase a helmet from an artist that is cast in urethane that has an artifulation that let's you raise the helmet visor, but im hoping to modify the visor part of the helmet by making it translucent so that I can see out of it more and maybe add some LED . The question is, what plastic would I use and how would I mould it? I'll update this post with pictures of the item once I get it.
