Help ID’ing an Item from “Light and Magic”

So I’m making my way through the documentary “Light and Magic” and saw something in episode two I had never seen before.

The white character on the right looks almost like a Ralph Mcquarrie concept painting of Vader come to life.

I’m sure I’m not finding something new, but after a few Google searches I’m not turning up anything. What exactly is this? It’s super cool looking!

That’s from the 1976 ILM Halloween party, if I recall correctly.

That’s also Joe Johnston in the suit, next to John Dykstra.

Wow! Thanks for the photo. That’s a really cool looking suit.

Watching Light and Magic, I’m thinking it must have been a dream to work with these guys on Star Wars. Very hard work, but a dream.

Interesting seeing it in white.

Many years ago a friend of mine got married in white Vader armor, sans the helmet.
