Help finding a Material with these properties for prop building

Hi all, hope this is the right section, anyways I'm living in Ireland and I need help finding a material or material set with the following properties,

1) A foam similiar to eva foam like what is used in cosplay costume or iron man suit design, but this foam must be able to absorb resin in order to harden itself directly.

2) A non run resin that can be applied to the above foam. Ie, when painted around a complex shape, it should leave no drips or minimum at most.

Essentially I need a material I can model with as easily as I can with EVA foam, but can harden directly to a plastic like material that I can sand and engrave and paint directly to a smooth finish.

I have tried EVA foam and various resin, paper mache, pva and fibre glass methods but they are either too time consuming or dont get a quality finish I desire.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Taibhse, Have looked at High Density Polyurethane foam ? It can be sanded and machined and also coated in resin or gel coat if you want a hard plastic like finish(it's also relatively cheap) . The only downside I could possibly see is if you're going to use it for a wearable prop then it might be a bit on the heavy side. Here's a site in the UK that sells the stuff : http://easycomposites.co.uk/#!/patt...ing/high-density-polyurethane-foam-block.html . Hope it helps.
