Finding this thread hit me with so much nostalgia. I remember trying to collect all the McDonald's pieces way back in the day and since never completing that I've always wanted a solid replica on it. If any of you ever do a run on one of these (resin or metal), you can count me 100% in. Regardless, great work everyone!

I don't remember what color this specific pistol fires. Is it kinda blue-white like these ?

I really wanted to put LEDs and a soundboard in the pistol but I would have to remake the model which normally wouldn't be a problem but fusion 360 dose some really stupid things that make it really annoying when you have to start from scratch.

I went through the process of turning the accurate 3d model that you started with into a 3d printable model, hollowed it out, engraved the little details, gold leafed it, and stuck LEDs in it just because.

Also made a model of the RLS Legacy (work in progress) first two pictures are the most recent. I'm still trying to determine weather I want the sails or not, I can make them but they'll never look as good as they do in the film.

I was thinking a sound board and maybe a visible laser or similar that in the near-dark and a fog machine, it could actually fire a BEAM of light out of it.

Got any work in progress shots of your map?
I might, I tend to forget to do that, this is the only progress picture I took.

Posting a bit of an update I've been working on the mechanical pen parts for the majority of the time but I think I've finally got a system that will work reliably for this! I also was able to reduce part count by including a section of the mech in the core of the map itself. I then spent probably a good week or two getting a bump map figured out for the surface texture, I think I still need a few tweaks for the finer detail but overall I'm really happy with how it's turning out! I am getting a more ABS-Like Resin on monday so that should help prevent scratching ect. and I think for a finish I'll likely be using a metallic powder and rubbing over the surface and then doing a matte clear coat. I think I'd like to do a run of these but with over 100 parts and finishing time required I'm still unsure of the cost. I also would like to test this on an FDM machine but don't it would likely need to be done on a 0.1 mm extrusion to minimize the friction on the mechanics. Oh I did also get spring and screw hardware in and that'd been working great! I even made room for springs being the screws so that there is a little bit of play like there is on a rubix cube! Hope to finish a completed version by end of may but we'll see! :)
