Help! Ender 3pro extruder motor not responding

So this morning my ender 3 pro extruder motor stopped responding.

I switched the connection between my x axis motor and the extruded motor so I know it isn’t the motor

the extruder motor moved when hooked up to the x axis cable and told to move

when the cable from the extruder was hooked up to the x axis motor it didn’t move.

Any suggestions on further troubleshooting or solutions?

OK - I'm a dummy, forgot you have to have the hot end heated up for the extruder motor to go - DUH!!!!

On the plus side I discovered my extruder esteps were way off like by a third!

Off to print soe better parts I hope!
