Hi SICKLEVILLE! I'm fairly new here myself so am sure that others may be able to point you in better directions. I have, however, been working on converting one of these myself so may be able to provide at least a little bit of assistance. I guess the first question to ask yourself though is just how accurate you're comfortable with. For example, the actual prop(s) were created from MPP flashes - as opposed to Heilands - and had a slightly different-looking shroud (Heiland has an extra "step"). Some folks may feel that the Heiland one is close enough while others look to replace it w/ a more accurate one. Roy appears to have both the ANH & ESB replica shrouds in stock at WannaWanga – Roy's saber parts shop. Roman Props is another potential resource for replica parts: MPP Archives - Roman Props | Roman's Empire. With all of that said, if you're interested in taking a totally different approach, I'm actually in the process of designing/creating some of these parts for my own personal build (mainly based upon 3D printing) so may be able to offer some solutions for you. As point of reference, the shroud, button & clamp in the pictures below are ones I've completed thus far...

The rectangular plugs and the 2 dot vertical plug may look a little odd forna Vader saber but its a real vintage camera flash, really close and just the american version. You could make your version.

If the accuracy bug infects you, keep it for a custom saber made with old inaccurate parts that are quite frankly still cool quality saber parts in and of themselves

Personally, i would nab one for a custom saber if it was less than 60 bucks. Anything much higher is a little bit of an investment for such a common item not conntected to filming

It would be perfect for a replica of the Vader saber featured in the old Star Wars Technical Journal. They based their schematic on a fan build using pretty much this exact flash. Different end cap, though I think.

I say build it! Wannawang.com will have most of everything you’ll need. Romanprops.com & The Custom Saber Shop are also great places to go.
Is the Heiland accurate? No. Does it make a beautiful Vader-ish looking saber? Yes!
Have fun with it! It was the first build I did, & I had a blast & learned a lot while doing it.

It’s sloppy, it’s not accurate, but damn it I love it!

I say build it, have fun with it, & please post photos when you’re finished! That’s what we’re all here for... sharing.

Now, go play, & fun!
