Hairy.
Finished up the hair last night. I tried to keep it messy but match the style he had... I may recede the hairline a touch more on the next one, but maybe not. I'm very happy with the coloring on the hair. It's a mix of darkbrowns and grays and the temples are a lighter brown/gray mix. Lots of variation for a great look in person.
I figured the real test was to shoot this in the lighting we're all used to seeing him... dim, backlit bar lighting.
And remember, it WAS 1976 when they filmed this.

I'll probably go add some to the eyebrows. Easy enough to do. Usually mask guys tend to go a little heavy on those so my natural tendency is to be a little cautious.
As for the complexion, I think it's really hard to judge that from the photos. All the brightly lit ones had a tungsten lamp right next to him, which makes the shots look a bit more yellow than they are (nevermind the fact that it's a digital photo and those never seem to match the object's color anyway.)
Plus, the references I posted were from the BTS bits on the DVD, which had an odd cast to them to start with.
Not trying to be defensive, it's just frustrating trying to get the colors to show up accurately in the pics.
I'll post some finished pics next week when the "good eye" comes in.

even though its hard to say in reference to this character... its gorgeous...
yeah a little more to the eyebrows maybe a little pinker skin with a little more pale top of the head... and itd be 100% accurate IMHO

Assuming that you're not one of those poor chaps who lives in darkness for six months of the year could you also take some shots in natural lighting when you do your final photo shoot?
I may, although the sunlight always seems to make everything look blueish on my digi-cam.
