Hey guys i am going to try and paint up a storm trooper helmet and wanted to put down a base cost color that looks like HDPE, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good paint color that matches and make? I was told to use humbrol 73 Grun Mattbut i cant seem to find that up here in Canada.

Thanks for any help you can give guys.

You should post pictures after you paint it. I've heard of people replicating the HDPE look, but I've never seen it. I was a bit interested in trying it myself but I'm not sure.

I did this too, Vallejo paints actually make the HDPE shade - RAL 7034

No need to mix, search for Model Air, 023 Hemp, FS34201, RAL 7034, Vallejo,

Also - remember cameras and monitors and colour spaces etc vary so it would be basically impossible to fine tune a mix from a reference pic of the internet.

I think about 2. The colour might be hard to find because it is kind of ugly. I got mine on eBay. Actually, buy more so you can do the inside as well

I used a badger 250 spray gun with supplied air can. Went on well, but my advice is to shine a light inside the helmet to check where your coating isn't as thick as the rest. I had to give it a few coats before it became convincingly HDPE.

I used a clear primer on top to protect it and to prepare for the white paint above.
