I have been on a bit of a Supernatural kick lately, and though these would be a pretty cool addition to the complete lack of props from the show :lol

Only problem is, I am drawing a complete blank on finding them. I have tried apothecary vials, glass vials, etc and no luck at all.

Any ideas what they are called?

Any help is greatly appreciated on it! Haven't had much luck with the search terms I tried.

Apothecary glass vials, Wicca glass vials, gothic etc etc would be my suggestions as they look quite old/antique/gothic. They are very pretty vials!

Re: Having trouble tracking down glass vials - Supernatural

I couldn't find an exact match yet, but try these things:
serum vial
test tube
glass stopper

I'll keep poking around.

BBBBBBBBUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

Got a glass factory looking into making em.

I really want these done, and the closest I can come to finding anything near is either an OLD perfume bottle, or a "reclining" bottle (meaning a dainty flask for women, apparently).

The round bottom is the part that is killing me. Well, that, and the stoppers, and the weird neck, and the fact I can't find the damned things.

Re: Having trouble tracking down glass vials - Supernatural

Hey! I did get your PM. I haven't been to my glass guys yet. Although, my friend (who is a huge Supernatural fan) didn't think this was that important of a prop (I guess it's in one episode?)

Re: Having trouble tracking down glass vials - Supernatural

Yep, it's only in one episode. "Hammer of the Gods", where we see Lucifer stomp through a pantheon of "pagan" gods.

There's no hurry on these, it's been 2 years since the episode aired, and I have been looking for over a year anyway. I kinda doubt there's much of a market to sell replicas to people, but I think they would look nifty on the prop shelf :)

Thanks, and thanks for the links too. Off to go check em :)

Re: Having trouble tracking down glass vials - Supernatural

I just sent you a PM with this information. I think this is the one you're looking for on the right. :cool

it is Item code: BC24/C24R from scilabware.com

Ground socket --- SciLabware

The Flat Ground Glass Stoppers should be easier to find.

Re: Having trouble tracking down glass vials - Supernatural

Scilab won't sell direct and Corning USA does not have them at all. Only place I could find them were at Mackayandlynn in the United Kingdom. They wanted 112.07 British Pounds or around 180 US Dollars plus shipping for just a 10 Pack. I for one can't afford spending for them. Maybe, 1 for $20 but not all 10.

Re: Having trouble tracking down glass vials - Supernatural

Try looking for "culture tube".

Re: Having trouble tracking down glass vials - Supernatural

Finding the name of the tubes isn't a problem. I tracked down the manufacturer and the product number. I even found the MSDS (Materials Safety Data Sheets). Its the 28.5 mm × 115 mm 30ml
Quickfit Pyrex BC24/C24R centrifuge tube. Just can't find a seller in the United States or one that is affordable.

But I'm hearing that $178 for a 10 Pack of Borosilicate glass with precision ground Quickfit® socket to accept tapered stoppers and can be centrifuged is reasonable for that high-end lab quality.
:eek

Re: Having trouble tracking down glass vials - Supernatural

hydin asked if I can get these done, so I might make some for him. Are there anyone else want a set? I think a set of tubes will be around $50, if there are people wanting these I'll start an interest thread to keep the records.

Re: Having trouble tracking down glass vials - Supernatural

I'm in, at least so far as interest in purchasing a pair that is.
That said, we still need to ascertain the exact size, or at least agree as to size.
FYI: Not sure, but I believe that size o' the "GonG" 'joint', on props from show,
are/were 18.8mm..., length o' tube/vial is anyone's guess...?
The 'exact' style o' stopper, as the show prop, might be hard to find or duplicate.

Anyhoo, I want a set! $50.00, w/S&H, seems reasonable if we can agree on details.

LMK? Thanx.
