having ago at moulding

If the clay is water based i wouldnt worry about a release agent or similar as its only a small peice. and you can carefully rinse out any clay residue after.

If you make a DAM or wall around the outside it will help stop the plaster running away if you make the plaster alittle runny, you should make a small batch 1st and use a old brush to lightly brush it into the details to make sure they are all picked up properly, then a thicker batch on top.

I guess you have probably done some youtubing or reading etc, so i am probably repeating what you already know.

No need for a release when pouring the latex :D

so i made a clay DAM round the cod piece that i sculpted like usurper said

poured in the plaster and waited for it to dry

the clay came off no probs round the edges and demoulded no probs

so i put the plaster mould ontop of a radiator to dry it quicker

poured in some latex and its drying out right now

here is the mould

will post up the latex piece when im taking it out the mould

so i let the latex cure over night and i have just had my first pull

its actually not bad, not bad at all

i think the piece is quite small, might suit a female predator but i think i might need to sculpt it bigger

but anyhoooo happy with it
