Keith, I found some old guitar strings and am planning to follow your idea and use them for the electrical conduit. But even the biggest string seems smaller than yours. Did you use bass strings?

I can't remember. I just went to a musical instument shop and asked the guy who works there to show me all the guitar strings he had. I picked the largest one i seem to remember.

When I scratched my SS ROTJ AT-ST (which seems to be more or like the same size than the Hasbro), I used bass strings, guitar ones are too small. Then I switched and did custom made hoses.

Could you elaborate a little on "custom built" hoses or post a pic please? I'm going to go try to find some bass strings this weekend but if there is another option I might go that route.

How did you shape the hand rail around the top hatch?

FYI, these walkers are currently available at Target for about $40. They come with 4 figures.

How did you shape the hand rail around the top hatch?

I cut some card so that the outside edge of the card was the same shape and size that the rail needed to be.
I then bent the metal rod to follow the shape of the card.

I know this is an old post, but just curious if you ever finished painting this baby? I'm working on upgrading mine also and yours is very inspiring! :thumbsup
