Has anyone made a Millenium Falcon chess table?

Yeah, machining them looks good to me. I have a pic of the right 2 pieces, that I can't show till Jan that looks to support the pointy pieces. So far, the screen caps have been the best detail of the left three items unfortunately. How big are your pointy pieces?

O.K. but ya see technically, that quote is not from page 1 but:
Its existence on page 1 is more of a happenstance than a solid fact.
Perhaps you are familiar with the phrase 'a virtual certainty'?
This quote is not attributed to a person it merely exists.

....and I also want to say thank you, and I'm sorry
for being a dolt by not remembering I'd read that.

ok, this went right over my head. ?

Does anybody know who wrote the description on page 1 that howlrunner quoted?

The "cone knobs" are about a 1/2" in diameter and are also found on the X-wing pilot and Tie pilot chest boxes, Tie helmet, Luke ROTJ V2 saber, the AT-AT driver outfit (maybe the smooth version, yet to be determined) and defiantly the smooth version is found on the Interrogation Droid as well. Did I miss anything?

sounds right. and if I was to guess, I'd say smooth is the thing on them.

I've often thought of making a pair of scaled down tables to use as end tables in my basement.

I'll be watching this thread with interest! Great stuff so far!

I am going to add this to my list (just don't tell Keith.)

For now I want to focus on a blueprint we all agree on.

The dims called out in the early post here, are they good?

Go with those?

Nobody commented on the layout of my table top. Does it look spaced properly? Bigger black parts? What?

I see it.

I resaved it.

Yeah, the pic wasn't showing up. Been waiting to see what it was.

I laid the top out just now get the drawing below. I used the dimension of 35" top, 30" playing surface, there are three circles. 30" diameter (though I think the paint doesn't quite go to the edge), 18" diameter and 6" diameter.

EDIT: image removed. I just realized that was the wrong diameter as I was doing a detailed drawing of the whole tabletop today. Will put the revised one up as soon as I have it done.

Why those Dims?

The proportions look good.

Don't know why that pic won't show, it's not processed any different than any of the others I post. Weird. And I still can see it.

I have a very large pixel count photo from LFL that made it easy to measure the sections. It could be slightly different, but I think this is what they used. Unfortunately, the photo is restricted for viewing till January or I'd put it up. Will do in January.

I can see your pic now. No problem. Thanks.

Can't remember the poster's name (and that thread has dropped off by now), but they mention JediDave and that they used their "trusty Mark 1 Eyeball" (a homemade laser pointer measuring device?) to measure the table on display. Hope this is of some help.

I thought 'Trusty Mark 1 Eyeball' was a joke. i.e. They just 'eyeballed' it.

It isn't obvious along the front edge facing us, but I'd say this pic confirms that the black didn't go all the way to the edge. Look to the right of the monsters feet. (click image to enlarge)

Of course it is entirely possible that the color was supposed go to the edge but was hastilly applied off center and the table was turned so that we weren't supposed to see this.

I mean who's ever gonna look that closely at the
set dressing from some little $9 Million sci-fi movie?:rolleyes

Has to be, though the laser thing sounds cool.

I have put together a photo gallery of all the pics I've received and collected for easy reference. If anybody claims a pic and doesn't want it in the gallery for some reason, please speak up.

I am getting ready to prepare a key layout so I can have one machined, from which many more can be made, either from resin, casting, or even individual machining, though that might be too expensive since there are 54 keys per table.

Could be I suppose. I just thought that it might be something similar to the device that Studio Creations uses to measure props on display:

ah, that's cool. I guess with enough setup time for each piece, it could be pretty accurate.

I just realized the overall 30" of the tabletop playing surface was wrong. Will put the revised one up as soon as I have it done.
