Murdoc, I've actually posted the front cover file on the Free Potter props thread, I'll update it here soon too.

Many thanks ecl. I will following this for sure ;)

Re: Harry Potter "Rune Dictionary" book prop replica progress

I'm looking to order a suitable lace to bind the book with. The original has what looks to be maroon colored shoelace. I'm going to try that first and see how it goes. I'd like to at least get it bound soon, as the interior pages have been going slow, so I'm going to bind this one with blanks pages first :D

Thanks for the interest! I'll try to add updates when more is done.

Any updates on this awesome project?!

This book is amazing!
Love your work in this and the other books you´ve replicated.
Thanks for sharing

It depends on the material. Usually a combination of sandpaper, acrylic washes, or sometimes people soak paper items in tea/coffee to imitate aging as well.

Finished binding the book today; the attached pic is a photo of the original displayed in the London studio tour (can't remember where I got the jpeg from)

Basically printed on fabric sheets, gold heat transfer foil for the gold parts, and backed with very thin cardboard like material. The binding was done with maroon colored shoelace. Had originally planned on designing an interior but decided against that, as I didn't want to invest too much additional time since I'm displaying it closed anyways.

Thanks guys. This particular prop became one of my favorites once I saw photos of the original, so it's been fun trying to recreate it!
