There is currently a slideshow on Entertainment Weekly's website that showcases 23 props that were significant to the Harry Potter series. They range from a Golden Snitch to the Time-Turner from Prisoner of Azkaban to Rita Skeeter's Quill to my personal favorite, the Triwizard Cup from Goblet of Fire.

I am a newcomer to the replica prop world and haven't yet dipped my toe into actual fabrication, but maybe these images will give the inspiration to start with something relatively simple like Harry's tie.
