Repainted my Hagrid lantern from the Noble Collection. Meant to do it ages ago, but only just got round to it. Last photo shows how it looked originally.

Looks great !!! That’s a vast improvement over the factory paintjob.
What was your process to get to this result ?

Thanks. The base is a gold Rub n Buff. Painted over that with layers of different brown acrylics in varying thicknesses, stippled on. Added some pale green acrylic to emulate verdigris and finished off with fuller’s earth. That’s basically it.

Beautiful, beautiful job.

RJN - amazing job! It is always fantastic to see your work!

When you say "finished off with fuller's earth" - did you use anything to adhere the fuller's earth to the lantern? I've never used it, and I'd like to give it a try.

Ah, thanks. That’s very kind. It depends what effect I’m after. Sometimes I put water in the area I want it to adhere to and sprinkle the powder over it. Sometimes I apply thick paint and sprinkle on to that when it’s wet. I also use hair spray and sprinkle it on that when it’s still wet/tacky. That gives a more subtle scattered effect. I’ve also sprayed hair spray over the top to help fix it in place. I find that varnish removes it.

Having seen that, I hope that Noble finally learns and starts producing quality products such as your aged Hagrid's lantern. I mean, look at the result!!! well done
