Two years ago I had the idea of making some Chocolate Frogs from Harry Potter. The main reason I put it on ice was simply that I wanted to be able to make more than just one. It would have been rather easy to get a block of chocolate and carve a frog out of it, but two identical? No way (at least for me
). Of course there is food safe silicone available, but the frogs were the only thing I wanted to be edible, so the rest of silicone would have just been a waste of money, and after a while, I simply forgot about the project.
Two or three weeks ago, it came back into my mind, and I thought "what about a vacuum-formed mold?", and tadaa, it worked!

they aren't perfect, still need some clean up work around the edges, and they are far away from the frogs you can see in the movie (because I took those frogs available to purchase for reference). I carved the shape out of a block of wax, made a silicone mold of it, made a plaster casting and formed it on my brand new vacuum former
consisting of a 2x4 cut and screwed into a rectangular, a ventilation grille, a heat gun and an old shop vac that's probably as old as I am, but hey, it worked.
