Anyone recognize and know where to find the glass vials that are used to hold the memories?

Thanks,
Mike

Good question.

This is what they look like...

Check make-your-own perfume sites, massage-oil places, wholistic lala-land stuff, you know the drill. ;)

Thanks for the tip. I did run a number of searches for these types of items on web and evilbay but didn't turn up anything close. I know I have seen these in the past but just can't seem to find them now. I was hoping for someone out there to go "Oh yeah, the store down the street has thousands of these" or something similar ;)

For the sheer number of them they show I would almost say that they had them blown just for this production...

Is it just me or does that bottom "knob" thing look like it was added on?

Granted this is a WB project and they would have the cutter to throw at a manufacturing run, but it almost looks like a perfume vial with a greeblie glued on the bottom.

Did anyone ever get this figured out? I had the same question, but have found nothing.

To be honest There must be something similar out there, but I work in the prop department on potter and can say almost all of the props on the films are made specifically for the movies. Unless they sell them seperately like the wands they make, I'm afraid your out of luck.

Happy hunting and good luck

hey, I know some people that work at potter,
and they create almost everything you see on screen from scratch,
Those bottles where specifically made for the film,
most of the glass in these films are plastic belive it or belive it not.

Edit!
I just posted this too late i see Hodge1001

I reconise your name!!

You work on the film? Need an assistant?

That's disappointing, but not a surprise. I'm sure some of these will surface after the film wraps, as that always seems to happen. Not that I'm encouraging that kind of thing, of course!

It would be great to have some better pictures, outside of the screen caps from the trailer. Anyone got any?

The studio keep real high security on the props costumes, creatures and makeups etc.
No photgraphy is alowed anywhere inside the security fence, so unfortunately I dont think any photos are available at all, maybe once the films finished and the studio shuts down there might be something.
As far as things surfacing after the shoot, maybe, who knows, theres a lot of things in storage, we will all have to wait and see.

It's unfortunate that many of these things end up destroyed or stuffed away in a warehouse somewhere, not to be seen ever again. The art and craftsmanship that is put into these things is usually astonishing, considering it might be seen on screen for 15 seconds.

Then again, if you could just pick these things up anywhere, forums like this might not exist.

My wife and I are huge fans. We met because of our mutual interest in the series, and we both work on a huge Potter fan site. Anyway, thanks for the info!!

Yeah you would be astounded in the detail and the amount of money that is spent on the props and costumes, hell everything in this series, It is one hell of a special series of films.
Im sure someware along the line some peices might crop up someware, But in the meantime...meh who knows.
Thinking about it alot of the glass props are plastic, so you could model the bottles and inject them with a transparent plastic.
What though exactly, hmm not sure.
Hope its been helpfull.
Luck

I just don't understand why they never did an 'art of harry potter book' with lots of pix...it would sell like chocolate frogs.

Yeah I allways wonderd that,
aybe because Its such a HUGE franchise, they couldnt be botherd to try?

also, talking of chocolate frogs...
I love props, props props props, why didn't they sell Berie Botts Every Flavored Beans inside the screen acurate FBO packaging from the films! Not to mention all the other sweets and chocs they made.
The same with wonka bars, they just had them in that plastic foil and with a cartoon of wonka o the front, not any kind of nod to the screen versions..

Hmm for some reason that riles me beyond belief.

Allways wanted the idea that kids would think they are having something from the films or what have you... dam!!!

Only reason I can think of, and I'm not sure about it, would be that the artists who created the original artwork would have to be paid a percentage, which might make the price too high on the finished product.

But it's just a guess.

I spoke to one of the reps for DK who did all the Star Wars Visual Guides and they said that they'd LOVE to do a Harry Potter Visual Guide but that J.K. Rowling will not allow anyone to publish any book based on the Harry Potter universe until after she had finished writing all of the books (this was a few years ago). They said that once she finished the book series things may slacken, but she's very possessive of the world she's created and wants to protect it (i.e. she'll probably only let things go ahead if she writes it, or has final say on everything - remember, she threatend huge lawsuits against the unofficial Harry Potter guide/encyclopedia that was going to be published and got it shut down).

Still, hope it happens one day....

I concur that the HP props are works of art. Even the non-hero versions hold up to extreme close-ups. In many films, the illusion falls apart when you get within a foot or so...

!

It's been done... sort of. Except that the box is full of clock instead of candy. To make it screen-accurate, you'd need to hollow it out, cut the legs into the base, and fill it with jelly beans.

This is a Japanese replica, BTW.
