hey everybody! sadly, i had to abandon my last post for a Joker prosthetic, due to molding issues which i never got around to resolving. -le sigh- HOWEVER, i have started something new!!! a lovely friend of mine and i are teaming up for a small convention next month and im making her, as the title says, a new Harley Quinn mallet! the best part is shes fun-sized (don't call her short!!!) and the mallet is going to dwarf her. XD so, without further ado, here's what i got going on with it thus far!!!
(sorry this is such a big post and pic heavy but i was debating whether or not to post)
so, here are some progress pics from when i first started. the core of the mallet head is two small paint mixing buckets with styrofoam spacers to create a slot for the dowel rod handle, which is actually a recovered small flag pole that my roommate was going to toss out after someone stole our flag. stupid kids...
overtop of the mix buckets i attached some thin cardboard to make a even surface to build on and one top of that i cut up and glued a sleeping mat to bulk up the mallet head. cue some cardboard circles with come more foam mats for the endcaps and the base of the mallet head is done! but far from complete. XD
the handle is made from the salvaged flag pole dowel, complete with the rounded endcap. i wrapped the lower end of the handle with several feet of black paracord which i then taped off in sections and painted red to give it that harley coloration. craft foam formed the metal rings and then a bunch, and i mean a BUNCH, of red thread to make another hand hold mid-way up the shaft. i also have thus far painted up some extra bits that will decorate the mallet head once i finish it.
ok, this first post has turned out long enough, so ima end it for now. please, lemme know what you guys think!!!
