Hardboard + bondo / pva?

All,

Is 3.5mm hardboard adequate enough for prop building. Im thinking of using some on a Han carbonite as the panel the cast will lie on. Obviously the weight of this and the glue used to get the carbonite look will be a factor but im trying to stick to a lightweight build. I will put some support across the back aswell.
