Hard T grips?

Im gonna try Roys..I like the idea of them being hard plastic as oppose to rubber.Rubber always seems to breakdown after time and becomes sticky.

I was looking through my old saber parts box and found a set of metal ones! Unfortunately I only have 6.
I forgot who made them. Wish I could find more

I wonder if they're from Marco Enterprises? I think he made metal ones.

Does anyone recall how much Gino's grips cost? Is it worth trying to hunt some down?

The difference between Gino's track and Roy's track (aside from the price) is that Gino's dimensions were obtained from original t-track on a screen used prop, and Roy's were reversed engineered using his own excellent computer models. You'll find comparison pics in this thread: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=253797 ...Up to you if you think the profile difference is significant.

If you do want Gino track I don't know that you'd need to hunt them down. Just contact him. Here is his t-track thread: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=41387

Thanks, I have read that topic already. I was just looking for other opinions.

Regarding Gino's thread I have read that as well and unfortunately his actual sale thread in the JY is no longer there.

You're welcome! I was trying to be impartial... But I guess my opinion would be that the profile difference does not equal the price difference. I bought my Gino track years ago when it was the only accurate option, and I gritted my teeth at the cost, but I sucked it up, because accuracy. Today I'd probably just buy Roy's. The cost difference is huge if you're buying tracks for, say, five sabers, like I did!

Ah, ok, I hadn't realized that. I thought he probably had so much of it you could just reach out to him at any time.

Thanks for your input Reali! I really appreciate your honest opinion, it's very helpful. I'd like to do a Luke ANH saber later this year when Roman releases his new Graflex replica. I'm trying to decide between Roy's grips and Gino's. I guess I am where you were years ago in that I'm thinking of gritting my teeth and going with Gino's. As you said, because accuracy. But now that there is a less expensive but still quite accurate alternative... Hmmm.... I may wind up going with the TFA version instead which would make this decision moot as that t-track appears to have a different profile altogether.

I´m biased - i would chisel me my t-track out of rocks or carve them from wood before i give any money to Gino.

Additional - we only have his word about how accurate his are, and his word is not much worth in my books.

So it´s Roys track for me every time.
