I bet this is quite ambitious of me to start this thread but itÂ’s something that has interested me for quite some time.

What I would like is to make a guide with everyoneÂ’s help to make the most screen accurate Han Solo ANH Costume.

HereÂ’s the Information and Links that I have collected:

Reference/Guide Sites:
http://www.partsofsw.com/hansw.htm
http://www.jedi-academy.com/solo_tips.html

If anyone could add to this list or even give feedback if you have bought from these dealers that would be great.

Nice links... ;) (although I knew them, it's great for those who are starting)...

I think you forgot one important link (at least for me)... the link for the falcon jacket.:

http://www.dawnandersondesigns.com/pattern...lcon_Jacket.htm

You can easily mod it, and make a nice ANH vest... (I'm doing it at this very moment, I have everything mod, and cutted, and starting the sewing process... will post pics when I finish it).

Another good option for the pants can be a work pants from dickies, and mod it as well (would be a cheap option, and can be as accurate as others, if you mod it nicely...) Once again, is what I'm doing :D.

And now a question for those who knows more about ANH Han vest... :

The back big pocket... is an expanded pocket, like the front ones ?? or is a plane pocket sewed directly on the back ???

I'm not sure... I have taken many many captures, and I see some shadows under the pocket (and in the sides)... I'm thinking about the possibility to have the lower edge sewed directly on the vest, BUT having some expanded sides... just the sides... but once again, I'm not sure, and I'd love to hear your thoughts...

P.S. about the boots, I really dont like those at all.. very expensive and not correct... you can buy real german officer boots for less... (BTW, I have 1 or 2 pairs of real WWWII that I may sell :p if anyone interested... sizes 10).

Ben.

Do you or anyone else have/know where I can get a Pair of the Correct Boots size 8.5 US?

Word to the wise, the blaster that Unique Canes sells IS a Blast-Tech only for more money. Go to the source. I have one and it's awesome.

I think I found the Correct Han boots...

$525...... for a reproduction ??? heheheh... yeahhh.. cool ... XDDD
[/b]

lol yeah, I saw that too.
I'm going to buy some authentic ones because there cheaper.

But are they the right boots?
I'm trying to make a guide so that if someone wanted to buy everything ASAP the guide can provide them with Links.

I've had an ongoing problem finding affordable, accurate enough boots for my husband's Han costumes. He's a size 12 or 13, depending on the boot, and they are impossible to find in that size on Ebay. The costume shop boot fell apart the first time he wore them. The ones he uses now aren't exactly accurate, but passable. I have a hard time spending $525 on boots he'll wear two or three times a year.

Thos Waffen SS repros look to be too short. That's one thing that needs consideration for Han is that the boots has to be a true 18" height riding type boot. Need to reach up to the top of the shins. Not quite knee length but close.

The flat top kind are usually referred to as "Spanish."

A more budget way to go is to get Devon Aire Men's Dress boots from Crazy Horse Gift and Tack and take them to a cobbler and have the tops made flat. Probably saves you around $100 off of the Caboots or MC.

Could they be?

These are Rubber Riding Boots for $72.95.
does anyone know for a fact that Han's ANH Boots were Leather?

These boots also give that "Skin Tight" look that the German Boots wouldn't give.
They also look like the right hight and even the right "Cut".

I don't know but what does everyone else think?

Also, does anyone have some High Res Pictures of scenes with Han in them?

Thanks,
Tim

The motorcowboy boots are the most accurate and the correct height since they are made to order. $350 isn't bad for a pair of custom boots to size. $525 is a bit overkill. Plus all of the WWII German officer boots I've seen to date have been too short for Han.

Steve

Yeah, it's a matter of fact his bots were leather. But those rubber ones are a good alternative for people on a budget.

I agree.
After doing some more research it seems like the German Boots are to short.

You read my post and changed yours. I also must change mine.
[/b]
lol yeah.
I asked if the boot's could be rubber, then when I posted it I saw that your last post answered my question :)

Ok,
So I kinda gave up with searching for the correct boots. But my efforts were not futile.

Here's the 3 best (in my opinion) Han Solo Boots:
1.)Motor Cowboy
Price: $349.00

2.)Manhattan Saddlery
Price: $72.95

3.)Devonaire Men's Dress Tall Show Boots
Price: $139.95

When I end up buying my boot's I would chose the Motor Cowboys because you can customize the boot in every witch way to make the boot fit/look perfect.

But if I'm tight on money I will probably get the rubber Manhattan Saddlery boots. They look great in the picture and for the price you can't beat it.

I don't really like the Devonaire Men's Dress boots because of multiple reasons.
First I don't like the idea that you cant customize the boot. Second I don't like the Idea that you would have to cut the boot top so make it level. and Last I don't really like the "Shine" on the boot. It seems dull and bland. But It is a valid way to get the Han Solo boots so I stuck it in the list.

Anymore Idea's on how to get the Han Solo boots?

Just to let you know some real world info.

I own the Devon Aires and they're not a matte finish like that. They are shiny leather. The type of shine you'd expect from a riding boot.

The rubber boots look good when sitting still. You put them on and walk and the rubber "behaves" differently than leather. You get weird bends instead of creases. They just look odd to me in person when worn. My friend had them for his Vader. They worked fine since he had shin guards over them. But the material has a strange look to it and you can tell they're not rubber.

At least I could.

Oh, It's really hard to tell that they would be shiny with the pictures available. But you own the place so you would know better than any of us here :)

And yeah, I didn't really think about that.
I could definitely see the rubber boots acting differently now that you said something.

Hmm. really good Information getting pasted around :)

Good points on all accounts regarding the boots. You guys are doing your homework :D Having tackled this costume a good 6-7 years ago, I've been down the boot path, which is no picnic. I wound up going back and forth with motorcowboy swapping pics back then to tweak a specifically Han boot. He perfected it in my opinion which is why I own a pair.

The hardest part is getting a correct fit and why he now has such a comprehensive measureing tutorial on his website....mine were first too large, then barely fit. I love them, but getting a boot like the riding boot to fit perfect is no easy task. Just pulling them on is a royal pain in the arse and having those damned pants have to tuck in so snug is an issue unto itself which is why I think a lot of guys just have the pants go to mid calf........clam diggers essentially.
