Han In Carbonite in Canada - Build thread

Hero panel 2 in progress. I used the brass screw to hold the electronics as well.

Thanks for the credit! Yeah, that's how I attached mine. I must say that yours is waaaaaay cleaner! Beautiful work on the installation. You have HP ver 3. My original was really messy. lol

Fantastic progress BTW!! If I wasn't knee deep in my all aluminum R2, I would upgrade my HIC with your panel casts and all metal greebs but my wife would kill me. ;)

This, everyone, is how it's done!!!! Great job buddy!!

I revisited the rest of the greeblies today as I finally heard back from my pro printer shop. The Hero greeblie needed to be adjusted in size and I noticed that the tube thing had a thicker lip inside.

They are now sent to the high def polyjet printer! I have barely anything to do on their prints when they get here. They will be molded and probably cold cast .. who knows! ;)

More work tonight .. I decided that I was tired of waiting on people! A couple pictures to show what's coming next!
Those will be printed on a high end polyjet printer .. then prepped, molded and cast! :)

With these, I'll be able to complete my panels!

The last needed parts for the panels are finally in!! :D Very happy as usual with the master parts! The guy had a small delay needing maintenant on his Object30 printer .. 3500$ later, he could resume printing .. OUCH!

This is exactly why I outsource these and the fact that prepping these beautiful parts takes me about 10 minutes. No bondo, no big sanding, only a tad of 400 grit around and I'm good.

Those are getting dropped in rubber as we speak. I would never even consider casting these without a pressure pot!!! but how lucky for me .. I do have one of those! ;)

Losing track here... are these the LAST of the Panel greeblies? Like, with the ones from Xenix, is everything now covered?

Cuz if so, sweet. You rule.

I know, I should probably keep these pics for my build thread!

I will soon close this thread, I will finish all these new molds, prepare one package with all parts and start a new thread with the current information, less complicated packages (only 1 will be available) and new prices. The canadian dollar gained on the USD and now, I also need to update my shipping prices since it makes a difference when I ship international.

There's 2 things that will be missing once I'm done with these. The rings all over the panels and the half sphere on the bottom right panel. I don't plan to cast the rings .. too much of a pain in the ass. but I will probably have an alternative.

That's why for now, I stopped asking balance and didn't ship any new packages. I want to make sure that I don't ship a package and the same person asks for the rest of the greeblies and I need to send it a second time .. it will just double the shipping cost and that sucks!

I will make a whole set for myself .. then, depending on how much time it takes me, I will evaluate if it's worth doing it for others. That's a lot of parts to cast ..

6x "D" plates
19x rings
6x holed cups
4x cups
1x rubber button
4x hero tubes
1x hero squared cap
1x half sphere shape (forgot to model that one so it's at the printer!)

Crazy. Well hope it happens! I don't want to go through shape ways... We Canucks get royally screwed through them... Especially shipping!

Not sure what you mean by "so much" silicone. The mold on the left has parts that are about 5/8" high, the mold is barely 1" high. The middle one is about 3/4" high for parts almost 1/2" and the one on the right is about 1/2" high.

That's around 200g of silicone per mold. It's not like it cost me 100$ .. there's maybe 10$ of silicone in there!

I guess I could have saved 3$ doing cheap thin mold that would deform parts when cast. Not my style to try to save money .. everyone wins in the long run! :)
