Han In Carbonite in Canada - Build thread

Decided to test out how easy it would be to build the plugs .. turns out I have everything I need around to build them and started on it.

Here's a little teaser, more tomorrow when the MDF will be glued together. This is my first experience with this and I hope that once vac formed over, the plug will easily get out from under the pocket...

Pocket dimensions are 5-1/4" x 5-1/4" and the big one is 5-1/4" x 12".
Depth of the pocket based on the ref will be quite similar to the front panel border (compensated for perspective) is about 3-1/2" up to the 1/2" lip, then another 1/2" bottom.

First buck is basically finished. I need to glue the top and work out the top and bottom joint.

Really happy with the shape and fitting into the hole, those plugs will be tight in there. I need to check with my vac specialist if there's anything I need to do to make sure they can be easily pulled out of the plastic.

Plugs are all done!

Fun fact .. the first one took me about 3h to make .. I had to figure everything out. The last one took about 25 minutes!!! I guess I learned to use my tools. Side walls are at a 2 degree angle to help removing the pockets from the bucks. Hopefully that will be enough!

Found a vac guy to help me with these. Going there tomorrow and If all goes well, I'll make about 20 sets and they'll be available to buy right away.

PS Yeah, I know, those screw holes will be filled .. don't worry!

Yeah, I stopped taking payment since most people will want to get multiple products so I will wait to have everything in stock. It all gets way too complicated otherwise and I don't want to have people's money and wait time.

That being said, there's a few guys who paid, but that's because they paid before I decided to do the rest of the stuff so they're just waiting on the stock to pile up to get everything at the same time.

Last week, I went to do a few test pulls on my plugs .. not bad in general, they're really clean (no layer lines) but not sharp enough and my first big plugs didn't have wall at an angle and even had some negative angle in there, making it impossible to pull the pockets off.

So I went back in the shop, redid all my top layer a little bigger and at an angle too .. looks much better now and will be super easy to demold. Also reworked the big one and it looks much cleaner now. Also added vent tunnel around the top layer to get sharper corners in there too. Will make a huge difference in the end result!

Test pull later this week, I'll have some pictures!

More work tonight .. I decided that I was tired of waiting on people! A couple pictures to show what's coming next!
Those will be printed on a high end polyjet printer .. then prepped, molded and cast! :)

With these, I'll be able to complete my panels!

Plugs v2 are now done. I will bring them at the vac shop soon and will be able to do a second pull test! That along with the machined parts is bringing this build really close to the end line!!

You can see the ventilation shafts that go all the way up to the top cap to have a nice sharp pull. Didn't have that on my first iteration and they weren't as sharp as I wanted!

Guys,
Does ANYONE have screen accurate stickers? I figured I'd create a set but I want to make sure that nobody has them before! I'm talking about all red writings, the dotted pattern and the dots.

I got the set from Trooper Bay. I assumed it was screen accurate, but in all honesty, I'm not sure if it is.
