Han in Carbonite Hero Panel Electronics

Hi All,

I'm not only new to this forum, but also to creating props. A friend of mine is part of the Belgian 501th (the guys who do the large props at Celebration (Tie Fighter, At-At, Chess Corner, ...)) and he's building a replica of the Hero Panel. Since he doesn't know anything about electronics he asked me to help him.
I've been looking for some details about this but that came up empty..

The main leds, switches and 7-segments are no problem, but the most right '7-segment' is.. I can't figure out what component it is and where I can get it. The local electronics shop (which has a lot of stuff) don't know this part and have no idea where to get it. So that's why I turn to the masters

Does anyone know the name/part nr of this component, or know where I can get it? I'm talking about the two vertical stripes with the plus/minus signes next to it, same size as a normal 7-segment.. the color is not that important..
The screencap is from the DVD release of ESB when they freeze Han..

If you have any other ideas about how to create the hero panel, please feel free to share.. I'll give the details of everything I make as I go along...

There are several Han In Carbonite enthusiests here on the board, I'm sure one of them will speak up soon. I've personally been hoping to see a "parts list" and a "how to" post pop up here on the board, so I'm hoping you will post your progress and document it for us once you decide how to proceed. What you are looking for is a 7-segment (actually 5-segment) display with overload indication somewhat like this part with separate plus and minus:

It was just mounted upside down.

I've ordered some red ones, but the lead time is quite long. I saw that Mouser ordered about 110 of them. They should arrive on the 16th of December.

Those original seven segment displays would be pretty impossible to find. They are a glass vacuum encased type display from possably some sort of industrial equipment LFL got their hands on back in the day. I had to make some from scratch below is what I made. I did a run of these on the HIC builders group and will do another run in a few months after I implement some flash sequence upgrades.

The units I made have the three different flash sequences slow, medium and fast unfreeze. Flash sequences were copied frame for frame from the movie, so they are dead on accurate. See video below.
