Holy f.... That turret is huge. Looking good so far, watching this thread with interest!!

GL dude. thats quite the project to undertake. are ya going to make it stagnant or are ya gunna put some motors in it to make it spin?

thanks everyone. this is 3 days of work on it. It is going to be pretty awesome once i get done. it may not be 100% accurate but it will be close enough that no one will be able to tell. I hope to be making some good head way on it this week. It will have a stand i can take it on and off of eventually. and the barrels will be stagnant. they will not move. i was thinking about modifying a electric drill or something to spin the barrels but i dont think it is necessary. I cant want to get the details on it. It will be entirely machined and hopefully light weight. haha:lol

most of the parts on it are made of either UHMW (a nylon/plastic) or PVC. the end caps are aluminum. i am still going to have to machine some material off of the cap that will hold the barrels. it is a little heavy.. there is plenty of stock to come off of it though. i hope to have another update in a few more days

stay tuned.:)

thanks everyone i really hope to get some more done tonight. i will have pics posted on here as soon as i can.

I love how you mention lightweight, and then I see pictures with large chunks of machined aluminium :) That looks like it's gonna be a real awesome prop. Nothing like the clean machined lines of a milling machine.

thanks it is going to be pretty light.. the entire thing is hollow with the aluminum caps on the end. there is a little weigth from the aluminum but that is the most of it.. i am guessing right at 15 to 20 pounds max.. i hope lighter but i am not sure..
:lol:lol

a machined part is so sweet compared to a casted part. it looks authentic. haha

well i got a little further tonight here is some more added to it. i know the side vent isnt accurate i wanted to add a little of my own touch to this project considering i am the one making it.haha:lol:lol

Looks Great - I'd love to play in your shop for a few days! Are you planning on going to DCon this year? I'd love to check it out in person...
