Don't know how many of you know what Photosynth is. In a nutshell, Photosynth takes photos, mashes them together and recreates a 3D scene out of them that anyone can view and move around in. Usually the best are of popular tourist attractions where there are thousands of photos to work from, creating incredible 3D models of the building that you can pan, zoom and move in any direction around.

So what has this got to do with HALO, Reach, or replica costuming?

Someone has kindly put together a Photosynth of the amazing Halo Reach monument at the Penny Arcade Expo 2010, dedicated to the brave soldiers of the Noble team during the Fall of Reach. Check it out here:

Halo Reach Monument Synth - Photosynth

You can zoom right in on armour details, get good idea of depths and shape, even check out the details on the weapons! It is a truly stunning piece and as soon as I saw it I thought of you guys! This is perfect for grabbing details for costumes. Hope you put it to great use. I look forward to seeing the awe-inspiring results. And crying at my lack of artistic ability. I live vicariously through you lot! :)

That's huge - thanks much! Do you mind if this makes its way over to the 405th? I'm sure that it would help outon a bunch of projects right about now...

I ordered the legendary edition of Reach, which comes with a mini version of that monument. I can take lots of pics of it for anyone who wants them. Just PM me. Granted the earliest I could possibly do it would be tomorrow night, after its arrived and after I've gotten my game on :)

DogWizard - Yes, you're more than welcome to share it. Remember, this isn't my work, I'm just sharing it to spread the love!

Link is working fine now. You may need to refresh the page once or twice. I had to do that first time. Also, it takes a little longer than most webpages to fully load. There's a lot going on in the Photosynth image thingy!

Apparently that statue is worth about half of a million dollars. At pax there was a full time security staff protecting it.
