Halo Reach AR dimensions

I found this information a while back on the Bungie site and thought it might be helpful for anyone trying to reproduce the assault rifle from Reach. I tried to find this article again in their archives, but had no luck. Trying to scale things from pictures and video games can sometimes be difficult. Having this "so called" hard data where they actually give dimensions is a plus. In the picture I downloaded, you can see the length, height and width . According to the guy who made the metal framed AR for Bungie's motion capture work, each square on the grid equals one inch. He mentioned that if you enlarged the image to 36 x 16, you would have the right scale. There has been a lot of speculation on the different sizes of the AR line. To my mind, the whole point of a bullpup design is its compactness.

Very cool. Yeah sadly Reach has made the Halo encyclopedia obsolete when it comes to alot of stuff like this so even if i don't make one its neat to add into it on my own.

I literally found this post within minutes of finishing my Reach AR high-poly model! -From that model a prop will be made. I will definitely compare these dimensions against the dimensions that I have so, Thanks!

[UPDATE] I just compared the two sets of blueprints. The plans I used have the AR bigger at 34.6"

Thanks for the link!

I spoke to the guy who provided the blueprints I originally used. He said that he based his dimensions off a barrel that would be able to shoot a 9.5mm round.

So while his dimensions might be more realistic, the mo-cap dimensions might be more accurate for the in-game model.

Looks like I need to decide which dimensions to go with.

Hey RSloan, and everyone else here on the RPF (been a member here for a while but this is my first post). I've actually done some more research on this topic since you brought it to my attention over on the 405th and have replied at length to your post over there. Here's a link- LINK

Basically at this point in time I'd be inclinded to go with the length at 800mm. I intend to do a ply board cutout for reference just to be sure, but despite my best efforts to justify my blueprint's original length of 880mm, plenty of material leans more to the other size.:unsure

Hope that's of some help and please let me know how your build goes!:)
