I'm sure those that were following E3 saw this trailer.

I'm actually kinda stoked yet, apprehensive to be honest. The fact the Microsoft is shooting themselves in the foot with the new xbox is what is really making me conflicted about getting it.

Anyways, the halo 5 trailer was a major hit in the "feels." Those who are really big into the story know what I mean, especially after what happens at the end of Halo 4. I think what we will see, based off the trailer, is the complete re-humanization of Masterchief. Breaking down the trailer, the biggest thing is why is he wearing a cloak? What happened to his visor? The only thing that leads you to make any kind of judgement is when he pulls out Cortana's chip.

As for aesthetics, the cloak may just be just for show or to make the trailer harder to ID at first, or it suggests that something is going down. Potentially that chief has gone rouge, or has caught himself in a situation that he cannot really get out of. One thing that is throwing others off is that the way the cloak is worn, you're missing the bulkiness of the armor, which would also suggest that he's missing parts, or perhaps, a design oversight. Though, the crack in his visor would also indicated he just got out of a pretty good fight.

All in all, I personally believe that this is going to be him trying to "rediscover" himself. Cortana was the only thing closest to a friend to him, and his talk with Lasky is what made that "click" into his head that he's not just a machine. So, I'm curious to find out if he has gone rouge from the UNSC in search of Cortana. Perhaps the fact that Dr. Halsey is now working with the remnant covenant factions, might indicated that he is or has been pushed out of his good standing with the UNSC. IDK, he's clearly a hero to humanity, but the product of Halsey, who was ultimately seen as a mad scientist and the stigma of her Spartan II program is made quite clear if you have been following online.

I'm excited...this is a new direction with the chief. I'm glad that they're doing so. I know the original trilogy, the idea was to make it more for the player to "play as the chief," but that left him with a semi-dull character. Now, at least after halo 3 and 4, they're developing him into someone with depth.

Thoughts?
