Halo 4 DIDACT Build

Been a while since I posted anything (mostly because for the last year I've been making the same damn things over and over again) but now I'm finally taking a break to make something for myself, The Didact from Halo 4.

Still in the early stages of the build but the helmet sculpt is almost done. Just another day or two to smooth it out a bit and prep it for molding. I'll try to post updates here at least once a week as I have some noticeable progress to report. If you want to see daily progress check out my facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Evil-FX-Props-Armor/305941566119243
I'm also doing (almost) daily live cam feed from the workshop if you want to tune in and watch me make a mess and cuss a lot. I Plan to live stream the entire build, start to finish over the next few months. Evil-FX on USTREAM: Prop and Armor Making with Evil FX. Costume, Props, Mass Effect, Halo 4, Didact, Sculpting, Molding, Casting, EVA Foam, Silicone, Latex...

Here is the latest progress photo and video.

That helmet looks fantastic, I've never seen anyone tackle the Didact yet. Good Luck and keep up the great work!

And just the other day I contempated taking on the Didact... Then I remembered that I don't have the proper skillset for making the Didacct, but I am glad to see someone does. :)

Day 10: Most of the Hand detailing roughed in now. Still need to do a lot of smoothing and correct some symmetry issues but should be ready to start molding in a few days.

Raw test pull cast in SmoothCast 300:

Took 4 attempts before I got a pull with a uniform thickness throughout the casting. An even thickness was necessary to be able to cut and later install clear panels and lighting effects. Gotten about 80% of the lighted areas cut from the helmet so far using a hot knife, the rest will need a dremil with a very small detail bit to remove.

Still needs to get a good sanding, but most of the lighting ports are cut out:
