Halo 3: ODST Armor (pic heavy)

ahoy!

weve been posting our progress over on the 405th, but we didnt want them hogging all the fun, so ill post what we have so far over here too!

the project is the team of ODSTs from the next Halo installment. we are using the papercraft process instead of sculpting or completely scratch building. we have a solid chunk of the work done, the majority of the work we have left is just molding and casting the pieces. we just finished up the mold for the "Dutch" helmet (the one with the skull graphic on the face) a week or two ago. the casts came out awesome which was a relief because it was our first molding / casting experience. i just snagged several of the pictures from the build thread from the other board. we have another update coming up soon that will be a little more organized. but for now ill have to leave you with random shots from various stages.

we painted up our test cast of the Dutch helmet and stuck in one of the visors we got from a seller on the 405th.com to stick up on our for sale thread over there. theres a tiny bit of damage on the vent on the right side, and the wires on the side are made from tubing, so it sticks out a little further than it will on the final product, but it helps you get the picture.

as far as the rest of the armor goes, we only have the gauntlet left to build, the rest is just smoothing and detailing to get them ready to mold. the thighs are missing but we are using a found piece instead of building them. we also are still in the process of finishing up the Rookie helmet, but that should be done by the end of the week.

also, if theres any interest for casts of Dutch shoot me a message or post here and ill get a for sale thread kicked up in the junkyard.

well to be entirely fair - goosebot did say he bought it from a 405 supplier right at the start .

rather than buying the visors under a different reason, sticking em into his own helmet and sellin em like they were his own w/o a mention of the original supplier?

a small mis-communication I am sure, but thats what creates mis-understandings. I am glad the situation was resolved with your friend though.

Yeah, Last Spartan. A lot of us have known Fitz for a long time too. He made a mistake and all that stuff's been taken care of. A good part because Sean still has the patience and mediation skills of a saint :angel.

ODST transport truck on display, coming to a Cleveland area store
on Sept 12th.

we arent selling our casts with visors. ive bought several from link on the 405th.com, but they are all for use with our personal dragoncon helmets. also, we have build pictures earlier in this thread, and more on our thread over there.

the mold was actually done by a member of Soaring Hammer for those of you who check 405th. theyve been a big help to us for this build.

so there you go. gauntlets should be molded and casted tonight. if they get done in time we may post one more update for them. we have to bust our humps to get done in time, but i think we will do fine. ill be taking my macbook to the con, so you should see some final suit pics up during the weekend sometime. unless youre there, then you can just come party with us!

also, now that we have the molds done for most of this stuff it means its up for grabs. look for an interest / sale thread after we have the last 2 or 3 molds done.
